At Shoreline Pediatric, we are all committed to creating the most comfortable and soothing dental experience for your children. We are proud to utilize soft tissue lasers for treatments that include:
- Aiding in impacted tooth eruption.
- Gum tissue recontouring.
- Relieving aphthous ulcers (canker sores).
We would love to use this technology to benefit your child’s oral health.
Benefits of Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Here are a few of the things you and your child will love about laser dentistry:
Skip the Numbness | Many procedures completed with the soft tissue laser will not require any local anesthetic. You child will often not need any injections and will not have any numbness after a treatment.
Higher Accuracy | Your child deserves the most precise dental treatments. Lasers allow Dr. Field to leave as much healthy gum and soft tissue in your child’s mouth as possible while effectively resolving dental problems.
Faster Healing | Soft tissue can heal faster after laser procedures than after procedures performed using some other tools. Your child should feel more comfortable during laser dentistry and experience minimal or no bleeding during and after the procedure.
The tissue that attaches the upper lip to the gum tissue or that attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth is called the “frenulum.” In some infants, that tissue can be excessively thick or tight, which can lead to difficulty in breastfeeding due to the inability to properly latch.
In a frenectomy, Dr. Field will release the frenulum under the tongue or upper lip. The goal is to let your child enjoy a better range of motion and an improvement in breastfeeding.
When your little one needs a frenectomy, a laser frenectomy is the easiest and most comfortable procedure for your child. Some babies and children even sleep during the treatment! Because lasers dissolve tissue rather than cut it, there is very little discomfort or bleeding involved.
