Our team at Shoreline Pediatric Dentistry want you and your child to feel comfortable every step of the way. One way we do this is to let you know what to expect. At your child’s first visit we will spend some time getting to know you and your child. This will include obtaining a thorough health history. Having an accurate medical history enables us to treat your child in the best and safest way possible. We will also make sure to address any specific concerns you or your child may have.
If needed, we will obtain dental radiographs (x-rays) using state of the art low radiation digital x-rays. Dr. Field will perform a complete oral examination including evaluation of all teeth, soft tissue, and the relationship of the upper and lower jaws. The findings from both the oral exam and dental radiographs will allow him to determine the overall oral health of your child and identify any areas of concern.
A large part of the fist visit will also be education. During the dental cleaning our team will take time to review individualized oral hygiene recommendations to help minimize the potential for tooth decay or other oral problems. We will also review proper nutrition to help identify high-risk foods and snacks. Our goal is to help teach you and your child how to obtain and maintain good oral health. At the end of the appointment Dr. Field will review all findings and discuss any recommendations.
